Our ideas, thoughts, judgements and reflections upon others and ourselves can both build up and tear down our own confidence.
For many of us it can be a challenge to believe in ourselves and our own capabilities, especially if in challenging situations or after a major life event.
It doesn’t have to be this way. When we can realise that we have all the resources and confidence within us, even if we haven’t used it for a while, we can take that first step towards controlling of your thoughts and looking forward to a positive future.
Decide that you will be in charge of your mind, that you will be the one who decides how you feel. By making that decision to focus on what you are and what you are capable of you will grow into a person who is a cause in their world, not an effect of what happens to them.
For today, and perhaps the rest of the week, take time out to remind yourself of times that you felt good about yourself. Remember those times when things worked well, or you did and said something that you were proud of. How you handled a situation with confidence.
Reflecting on those past successes and connecting in with the feeling will allow you to more easily tap into your confidence in the future.
Because, let’s face it, we can’t always control what happens in our life. But we can control how we handle it and use it to move us towards a brighter future.
